URSU + HAITI
The URSU, with the help of the University of Regina and other campus organizations, is asking all students to participate in helping with Haiti Relief efforts in any way possible. URSU has organized a series of fund-raisers to help facilitate these efforts and raise money which will be sent to organizations working in Haiti.
Challenges
The URSU Has organized two "challenges" for all students, and faculty and staff members.
LOUNGE CHALLENGE
From now until February 4th, the University of Regina Students' Union is asking ALL students to DONATE to their respective Student Society or Association. The Student Society or Association that raises the most money will win a 42" Plasma TV for their student lounge (donated by Battleford Furniture Ltd).
DEPARTMENT CHALLENGE
URSU is also asking all faculty members and staff to take part in the challenge. The deadline is January 29th and the winning group will win a free lunch at the Lazy Owl for all members and staff.
CHANGE Drive
Don't belong to a student society or association? No problem! URSU will be going across campus collecting spare change and contributions from now until February 4th. Look for us in the hallways!
Wrap-Up Party
To finish everything off, URSU will be hosting a Live Music Event on February 4th to announce the winner of the Lounge Challenge as well as the grand total of money raised! This is our way of saying "Thanks" for your generosity. Event details coming soon!
What happens to my money?
100% of the money that is collected by URSU will be sent to Haiti relief efforts. This includes international organizations such as the Red Cross, UNICEF, and other similar organizations. These fund-raising efforts are made possible by the University of Regina Students' Union, The UniversityUniversity of Regina, PAC societies and student associations, and volunteers. 42" Plasma Widescreen TV is a donation from Battleford Furniture LTD and was not purchased. Lazy Owl free lunch is sponsored for by URSU and the Lazy Owl Bar and Grill.
